The controversial O.J. Simpson book, “If I Did It” in which the former NFL star outlines a detailed-yet-hypothetical account of the murders of his ex-wife and her friend, has hit No. 2 on the New York Times best-sellers list for nonfiction, topping President Clinton’s new book “Giving.”
The rankings reflect the best-seller info for the week ending Sept. 22, and are scheduled to run in the Times on Oct. 7. The news, however, was released Thursday -The independent New York-based publishing house has already printed 200,000 copies of the tome and plans to print more next week, spokesman Michael Wright told Reuters.
That total is already half the number of copies churned out by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp.-owned HarperCollins in a previous printing canceled last year amid a public outcry over the book and Simpson’s reported $1 million publishing advance.
